* Massive Changes to 0870. ACT NOW. Important *

On 1st August 2009 there was massive changes to the way the 0870 numbers l work, if you have a 0870 number you now have to pay a connection charge every time you receive a call (this is only on a 0870 number).

You must change your number from your old 0870 to one of the newly available 0871 or 0844 numbers to avoid paying to recieve calls on the 0870 numbers.

Remember that 08 means national rate
As long as you remember that all 08 numbers are charged at national rate (charged in line with BT's national rate) then you wont go far wrong. It's the next two numbers that make all the difference in who actually pays for the call. In 2001 the governing body for numbers (ofcom) completely overhauled the numbering system to make clearer and fairer to the caller the cost of calls.

Your customers know the difference
Before the simpler fairer system was brought into play, many mobile numbers started with 08, 09 and 07, this has all changed. Its now generally accepted that 99% of callers know that all mobile numbers in the uk start with the prefix 07 and ALL premium rate numbers start with the prefix 09.

We never supply 09 premium rate numbers
We are not in the business to supply premium rate numbers, we find them repulsive and time has shown that we were right. There have been hundreds of highly publicised cases of TV companies being fined for misuse of these numbers. They are expensive to the caller and at the heart of every telephone scam. WE DO NOT SUPPLY 09 PREMIUM RATE NUMBERS.

Every call is paid for by someone
There is no such thing as a "FREE CALL", each and every call has to be paid for somewhere, you may have "unlimited calls" on your home phone but they are paid for in the monthly subscription cost (wholesale charges). In business we do not have this luxury, so the fairest way is to charge all callers the same cost, weather they are 1 mile or 500 miles away. 08 national rate is fair, honest and accepted as the correct way to advertise your company on a National stage. We recommend 0871 because it is charged at the same rate every day and all day and night.
